Top 14 - "I grew up in Bordeaux..." : the young Rockies player Hugo Reus looks back on his first game against UBB

By Vincent Franco

This Saturday evening, a new face of the Top 14 has walked on the Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux. The young fly-half Hugo Reus (19 years old) from La Rochelle celebrated his first professional appearance during the large victory against UBB (36-6). A special moment for the French international under 20, who grew up in Gironde...

There are games that mark a career. This Saturday, Hugo Reus lived a night he will never forget. The Stade Rochelais fly-half stepped on a Top 14 pitch for the first time with the yellow and black shirt on his shoulders. He came on a little more than 15 minutes before the final whistle and fully participated in the maritime demonstration against the UBB

It was just incredible," he says. When you go home in front of 40,000 people... You may have imagined it, but you are still surprised. It was a dream for me to play a game in the Top 14, it's now done and I'm very proud of it."

And the least we can say is that Reus didn't take long to make his mark in the championship. Against UBB, he scored his team's third try after a breakthrough from more than forty meters and allowed himself the luxury of scoring the two conversions he attempted, including the last one completely in the corner. In short, a perfectly successful first try.
